Put the Phone Down and Just Drink Tea

New Year advice about digital detox has become a bit of a cliche, but there's something genuinely worth trying buried inside it: for at least one cup of tea a day, put your phone away and don't look at a screen.

It sounds small. It is small. But the cup of tea you drink while answering emails is a completely different experience from the one you drink while doing nothing else.

Tea has always been an excuse to take a break. The tea break exists for a reason. But its value depends on actually taking it - stepping away from the screen, letting your mind settle, tasting what's in the cup.

If you're going to try one mindfulness practice this year, this is about as low-effort as it gets. Pick a tea you genuinely enjoy rather than one you barely notice. Our Nilgiri Green is a good option - clean and naturally sweet, it rewards a bit of attention.

One cup a day, no screens. See how it feels after a week.

Until next time, The Bellevue Team
